Inches Update..a few days late

It’s been a crazy week. We are on Week 8 since surgery. Some exciting news is that none of my clothes fit. I was so tired of wearing super baggy pants – I pulled out  a pair of BabyPhat jeans that have been in my closet for close to 3 years with the tags on them. I just don’ t really like them because they are super stretchy (i.e. super tight). I put them on this morning and Austin said, “you bring a whole new meaning to the song ‘Apple Bottom Jean..boots with the fur…she had the whole club lookin at her.” Only he sang it.

Bust     39 (down 1 inch from last week – down 5 inches)

Waist   39 (down 1 inch from last week for a total of 7 inches)

Hips 46.5 (no change from last week – down6.5 inches)

Thigh 26.5 (no change from last week – down 4 inches)

Arm 13.5 (no change from last week – down 1.5 inches)

That is a total of 24 inches..I’m not sure that’s how you say it or not..or if that is even a lot. It seems like a lot.

I thought I would post a picture update as well!

Made it through the 4th of July…

So, I was a tad nervous about the 4th seeing as how it is one of the biggest drinking holiday’s of the year in Swampscott and I haven’t had a drink in almost 4 months! Not only was I nervous about how the drink would affect me but also, what was I going to drink with this lap band!! Someone mentioned Smirnoff’s Lemoncello (sp?), so I thought I woudl try it. It went down great! and it was nice to have a little adult beverage after such a long hiatus. I consumed three beverages..but it was the last one that did me in. I think I had a little more than 8oz in one hour..and it was just too much liquid in my belly. In terms of food I did good too. My mother-in-law made me some pulled bbq chicken and I had my fruit cups. I did have 1/2 cup of potato salad and 1/2 cup of pasta salad but that is the beauty of the band – I can do that if I want to. So, I made it an all was well.

I also realized that I need to get my but to the gym to make this work. I went last Friday and that got me motivated I think because I got up at 6am this morning and went to the gym! ME! The queen of sleep got up early. On the flip side it is only 4pm and I could take a nap at my desk right now!

Week 7 – another 8 lbs

So, I went for my weigh-in this morning. The long awaited weigh in. I lost another 8 lbs in 3.5 weeks, making for a total of 32 lbs in 7 weeks. I was a tad dissapointed because I thought the weight loss would be more, but then Dr. Robinson came in and said I was doing great and that he wasn’t going to give me a fill because I was loosing at a rate above the average.

Apparently, they don’t give you a fill if you are losing. I met with the nutrionist before my appt and Sari gave me a bunch of tips on how to get all the food in. Part of the problem is that I just can’t eat all the food in a given day. I forget to eat, I forget to drink and then it’s 9:30pm and I have two starches and 4 glasses of water to drink. So, I’m on a renewed path with some fresh guidance.

They were thrilled that I am getting in all my protein – so that was good. I was kind of looking forward to the fill. I had my flip all ready and everything and then he said, “see you in 4 weeks.” I was like, “wait, what about my fill??” Dr. Robinson said, “why would you need a fill – you are losing? and you aren’t eating all your food now. no fill for you!” So, it’s a good thing I guess.

I also took my measurements this morning.

Bust     40 (no change from last week – down 4 inches)

Waist   39 (down 1 inch from last week for a total of 7 inches)

Hips 46.5 (no change from last week – down6.5 inches)

Thigh 26.5 (no change from last week – down 4 inches)

Arm 13.5 (no change from last week – down 1.5 inches)

So, it is now week 6. I can finally work-out and I can finally lift things over 10 lbs even thought that has been happening for awhile now. I haven’t weighed myself since June 2. I go on June 30th for my first fill and to get on the scale!

Here are my measurements for this week:

Thigh    26.5 (down 4 in. 1/2 inch from last week)

Arm 13.5 (down 1.5 in. no change from last week)

Jon and Kate

Filed under: Uncategorized — mldollaz @ 9:12 am

Sad night in television. Jon and Kate Gosselin filed for divorce to end their 10 year marriage. I cried. The episode was very sad. There were a few comments that didn’t sit well with me however. The first of which being when Kate said, “the show must go on..” why? Are they going to chronicle their divorce proceedings. The second of which being when Kate said, “Jon won’t talk to me. I would love to discuss it with him but he won’t.” and later when Jon said, “I’m not a very good communicator.” Obviously. Have they tried marriage counseling? Although it seems Jon checked out long ago, it would have been nice if they tried marriage counseling.

The kids are who I feel the worst for. They are going to be so confused that they live at a house, but their mom lives there a few days and there dad lives there a few days. And then I loved how Jon, in response to his continuing to be on the show, was like, “who knows, I might get a job..” um..I don’t think anyone is going to hire you with paparrazzi permanently stuck to your ass. It’s sad it really is.

I think if someone offered me a television show – I would say no. It never ends well. Look at another of my favorite couples, Jessica and Nick Lache. They spent their first year of marriage being tailed by a video crew and look where it got them d-i-v-o-r-c-e. Sad because they were so cute. Who else? Carmen Electra and Dave had a show. I forget what it was called. Then there is always the Anna Nicole Smith Show – god I loved that woman and now she is no longer with us.

On the flip side, there is always those that make it on reality tv. Gene Simmons is still doing okay, the Osborne’s are there (don’t know if they are okay), Tori and Dean are still together..let’s see how things pan out for Kendra Wilkinson.

Whale Wars

Filed under: Uncategorized — mldollaz @ 12:45 pm

Austin and I watch a show called “Whale Wars” on Animal Planet. It is a show that profiles the boat “Sea Shepherd” whose mission is to stop the killing of whales by the Japanese. The crew is led by Paul Watson, the self-described co-founder of Greenpeace.

Here is a blur from Wikipedia: “The first Sea Shepherd vessel, the Sea Shepherd, was purchased in December 1978 with assistance from Fund for Animals. Sea Shepherd soon established itself as one of the more controversial environmental groups, known for provocative direct action tactics. These tactics have included throwing objects onto the decks of whaling ships, the use of “prop foulers” in an attempt to sabotage the ships, boarding whaling vessels,[13] and the scuttling of two ships in an Icelandic harbor.[14] Watson remains the leader of Sea Shepherd today and uses the title “Captain” in reference to his role in the organization, although has never been licensed as a ship’s captain.[1] The organization and its activities to halt whaling are the focus of a reality TV series, Whale Wars, airing on Animal Planet.”

This show is very exciting. It is sad what happens to these whales. But, one thing I just have to say is that first mate, Peter Brown, is a complete idiot. He has almost sabotoged the trip countless times because “he doesn’t rely on technology.” He lets his “experience” guide him. In a recent episode, the Sea Shepherd, which does not have an ice-rated hull, was stuck in an ice field. The communications team went through all this trouble to read the ice maps and find a path out of the ice. They gave Peter Brown the coordinates because it was his watch..the next morning they realized the mark was missed, why?? because Peter freaking brown didn’t bother to follow them! It just aggravates me because they have all these volunteers on board and he doesn’t take into account the safety of anyone.

Peter should be the new first mate!

5 weeks since surgery..

It’s measurement day!!

Bust: 40 *no change from last week – still down 4 inches
Waist: 41 *down 1 from last week for a total of 5 inches
Hips: 47 *no change from last week – still down 6 inches
Thigh: 27 *no change from last week – still down 3.5 inches
Arm: 13.5 *no change from last week – still down 1.5 inches

I keep tell myself this is a good thing. I don’t want to loose the weight too fast! And I just bought new jean capri’s on Saturday and they are already a little baggy. Aus just told me that my “Weight Loss Surgery” cookbooks came from Amazon. That should help me to get a little variety back into my diet. There is only so much bbq pulled chicken and deli turkey a person can eat! I’ve also really been craving ice cream lately. I wrote to the nutrionist to see if I can have tofu ice cream. It’s very good, Cafe Kushco by our house sells it..yum! I hope she says I can have it.

4 weeks since surgery…

I take my measurements every Tuesday – not another weigh in until June 30th!

Here is the update:
Bust: 40 (down 4 inches)
Waist: 42 (down 4 inches)
Hips: 47 (down 6 inches)
Thigh: 27 (down 3.5 inches)
Arm: 13.5 (down 1.5 inches)

Now, I wish someone would notice! It bothers me when I see people I haven’t seen in awhile and they don’t say ANYTHING about me looking slimmer! wtf? I need that positive reinforcement! People who see me everyday, my bosses, Austin, etc..they notice..but you would think someone who I haven’t seen in a couple of months would say something!

My first weigh in…

So, today is 3 weeks post-surgery. I went for my first weigh in…17 lbs!!!!! in 3 weeks!! That is awesome. I was so happy I cried on the scale. Dr. Robinson was very excited as well – he told me to keep up the good work.

I asked if I could go to the gym and he said I need to wait about 2 more weeks for that. I asked if I could have alcoholic beverages and I got a frown. He said, if I NEED to have a 1/2 glass of wine – fine – but remember it is full of empty calories.

I also took my measurements today:
Bust: 40 (down 4 inches)
Waist: 42 (down 4 inches)
hips: 49 (down 4 inches)
thigh: 28 (down 2.5 inches)
arm: 14 (down 1 inch)

yay!!!!!

An awesome weekend!

Filed under: Uncategorized — mldollaz @ 11:21 am

So, the end of last week was not looking to promising..but then on Friday I spoke with Dr. Robinson and he said it would be okay to start the mushy food diet. On Friday night, while we were working a photo booth gig – I had my first food in a week and a half. Chicken Soup! It was wonderful!! Then on Saturday, I really started. I’m allowed to have things like Applesauce, mashed carrots, mashed potatoes, sugar free pudding, mashed bananas, 2oz of chicken, tuna or turkey, cheese – that’s about it..but man is it good!

So, I made it through the weekend– until Sunday. We went to a wedding and during the ceremony I was in such agonizing gas pain Austin recommended I take the pain medication. Well, I thought he meant the oxycodone and he meant the tylenol..so as we are driving to the reception I’m like about to pass out. I was super dizzy. So dizzy that when I got out of the car I nearly fell down. We get into the reception and I’m now feeling nauseas (sp?). I tell austin that I think he needs to give me the nausea medicine (see a few posts earlier about that..but it’s not pleasant and it’s not given orally :-) ) So, obviously we are in a public place and he can’t go in the ladies room. We put our heads together and came up with the u-haul trailer!! We had rented a trailer because our friends (whose wedding were were at) had also wanted the photo booth. So we climbed in the trailer – I got the medicine and all was wonderful!!! hahahaha!!

Yesterday, we spent the day at the pool in the sun so that was nice. My incisions are healing up quite nicely and I’m really feeling great! Although, I am a little bummed that everyone isn’t like “have you lost weight?” Everyone at my work keeps telling me I am – but we went to two bbq’s over the weekend and people told Austin that he looked like he had lost weight! Oh well! I have a year to go – and it’s only been two weeks. I have plenty of time!
