GPB Convention

Filed under: Uncategorized — mldollaz @ 1:31 pm

I’m back! Went to the Gamma Phi Beta Convention Wed (June 25) – Sun (June 29). It was SO much fun!! I can’t even tell you..I laughed, I cried, I cheered, I sang, and I made new friends!! I was a little leary at first but I am so glad I went. I made two new friends in my roomates from Canada and I got to meet so many people. If you are a member of a social sorority I strongly suggest you attend your organization’s convention. It was a blast! Here are a couple of video’s. One is all the ladies in the lobby of the hotel doing a cheer to get ready for the Crescent Classic..our 5k walk which was just 1 mile because of the rain and the second is the confirmed conventioneer’s dinner where ladies who have been to five or more conventions get to march in a parade and 700 ladies are cheering them on!

Gettin’ Ready for the Flip!

Filed under: Uncategorized — mldollaz @ 12:44 pm

I am super excited! My Flip Ultra is supposed to be delivered today. Just think of all the videos that you are going to get to see now. I learned of this very cool product from Social Media guru – Peter Shankman. He tested it by sending it through an x-ray machine at an airport – bet you never knew what the inside of one of those things looked like…black. I will be sure to post a video asap!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Wow…

I am so frustrated right now. How do you get people to accept new media?? I guess you really can’t. But it is so difficult when they just don’t understand. I have clients who treat new media as old media and hold it to the same standards but they can’t be!! My clients look at a blog and say, “oh, that is not professional” or “they are requesting something that they want personally..” I just want to say THAT IS THE F-ING point! You want people to be CONVERSATIONALLY talking about your product, you, whatever your pitching. This has got to be the most frustrating part of my job right now. How do you convince clients that this is the BEST thing for them?? I know you have to prove it in the numbers..but how do I prove numbers when they aren’t even willing to test it out with a little mommy blog??

What I have learned

So, I went to a seminar last night on “New Media” with my co-workers. I will start by saying that one of the panelist Adam Ritchie of Adam Ritchie Brand Directors said, “never apologize for not posting on your blog..” Even though I haven’t posted since January-ish..I will follow the rules of this expert.

The evolution of new media/social media is crazy..there is so much out there. I’m trying to figure it all out and make time for it all. But, I think it is so important because this type of pr will most likely be my next job. But, oh where to begin. Well, I got Twitter..which I am still figuring out. I think I have Facebook down..and then there is this, which I just need to be more consistent about.

I do want to push this new site that my boss, Janet, came across — www.helpareporter.com. It’s by this social media guru, Peter Shankman. All PR people should be on it..and while your at it subscribe to his blog and follow him on Twitter and make friends with him on Facebook. Got all that.
