The Geek Squad

Filed under: Uncategorized — mldollaz @ 12:19 pm

Okay, so I am going to try something here and while I’m sure it won’t work — it’s worth a try. Every time PR guru Peter Shankman gets upset about something he turns to his blog and writes about it. The latest case was TiVo. Within 24 hours, he reposts and says, “TiVo read my blog and contact me and they want to make amends..” Granted, I’m no Peter Shankman with thousands of loyal fans (myself included), but what the hay.

Since Monday, my computer has been experiencing technical issues. Yesterday, my boss gave the go ahead to call the Geek Squad since our IT person is out of the country. We called at 10:15am, by 3:30pm nothing had been resolved. In fact, it was worse. From 10:15a to about 12:30p we were on with agent summersett who was being helpful. She disabled a bunch of things that she would later enable to (she said she needed to do this because the system was running so slowly). She then started some sort of scan that she said would take 45 minutes she asked if I wanted to call back – I said no. I wanted to continue working with her and —dead..we were disconnected. I immediately wrote her on the chat and said “Please call back.” She said she couldn’t and gave me my case number to call back and speak with a new agent.

So then you know how this is going to go, I called, press 1 for english, press 1 if you have a secret code, blah blah blah..I get someone, “Hello thank you for calling the Geek Squad how can I help you?” I reply, “Yes, I have a case number?” “Okay and what is your account name?” I give it..”and what is the phone number on the account?” “I give it along with…and I have a case number?” “Okay ma’am. Let me look at the account. I see you are in the process of running a scan?” “Yes” “Okay, call back when it’s over with the result. There is nothing we can do now.”

Now, keep in mind we have just spent $199.00 on PHONE/WEB support. Yet, no one will help me. I leave my desk and go eat lunch. Come back – computer is off. It just shut off. I turn it back on and call back. Same riga-ma-roll again..only this time it’s “What is the account name?” I give my male co-workers name he created the account. “Yes, and what is the name on the account?” I give it again. “and what is the name on the account?” By this time, I am fuming mad and I want to throw the phone out the window. Now, not that this matters but this man was def. at a call center in a middle-eastern country which made it SO much more difficult. I say, “Please transfer me to another agent. I would prefer not to work with you.” And I get hung up on……

I call back..and again…1 for english..whole nine yards. I get the agent on the phone and he is being helpful..until we go for 20 minutes and he has literally just moved the mouse around the screen clicking on things but not making any changes. I finally say, “I would like to have my money back..your service is not helpful what so ever.” Long story short, we get our money back..however remember all the stuff the first woman disabled..oh yeah, it’s still disabled and I have no idea how to fix it…suddenly around 5pm…computer works fine….okay..random.

Come into work this morning — computer freezes at everything I do. So, I play around and somehow get back to the “disabling screen” and enable everything…all seems to work okay…as of now..fingers crossed..

Now, let’s see how long it takes the Geek Squad to write me and say how sorry they are. I’m sure I’ll be waiting — a while!
