My Nail Lady..Jackie

Filed under: Uncategorized — mldollaz @ 11:12 am

My nail lady, Jackie is such a miracle worker I thought it was time I pay a little homage to the woman. I am supposed to see her every two weeks but you know me and I’m always a day late and a dollar short – so I see her more like every 3-4 weeks..and she always looks at my nails and says..(in a Vietnamese accent)..”oh, Me-lissa, you wait too long!” But she always fixes me up like new. And pedicure’s the woman gives one hell of a pedicure. I have a pesky big toe nail on my right foot and she always makes it better (TMI..I know!)

As some of you may know, I have worn fake nails since I was 16. First acrylic and now gels. So last night, I was like “Jackie, do you think my nails still exist under these fake nails?” Jackie said, “oh, sure. You still have nail.” I said, “Well, I have had this set for 3 years..aren’t you supposed to get a new set every 6 months or so?” Jackie said, “oh, no, you get new set when I tell you. and I do such good job that you don’t need new set.” Okay. Sounds good to me.

If you are in need of a good manicure, nail fill, pedicure or Spa Pedicure (45 minutes of amazingness)..then visit Nail Spa Salon in Swampscott/Salem line. Ask for Jackie and tell her Marissa sent ya!

Indeed.com

Filed under: Uncategorized — mldollaz @ 5:30 pm

So, I am not looking for a job, but my husband is and when helping him search I came across a website called indeed.com. Which I found very helpful. Then, I was filling out some frogs on Buzz Agent and noticed that indeed.com was in the frogpond. For those of you who don’t know, Buzz Agent is a word of mouth marketing company that gives free stuff to people to so that they can talk about it and then report what they said and the reaction.

Anyway, Indeed.com is a great job searching website because it pulls job listings from all the major sites like Monster, Career Builder, Hot Jobs, etc. The one downfall I have found, however, is that is sometimes posts expired jobs but you don’t know it until you get excited about the potential, click the link and then it says “this job is expired”. If you want to check it out click the link below.

Poor Tom Brady…

Filed under: Uncategorized — mldollaz @ 1:18 pm

So, I came across this video on TMZ.com and I was honestly disturbed. I feel so bad for Tom and Gisele. They can’t even go to freakin Best Buy and purchase printer paper without being mobbed by 20 papparazzi. That really sucks. I can’t even imagine. I was actually playing it out in my head on Saturday as Austin and I had literally 10 places to go. Here I am fumbling out of Lapels Dry Cleaning and if someone stuck a camera in my face..I think I would have died. Or maybe, while we were in Camille’s Sidewalk Cafe eating lunch..I can’t imagine trying to sit and relax and eat lunch while 20 photographers are parked right outside the window and all that is separating you is a piece of glass! Just let the two of them lead their lives!

I learned a little thing or two about ebay and shipping…

Filed under: Uncategorized — mldollaz @ 8:51 pm

So, last week I put a few things up on ebay..they sold! yay! I packaged them up and went to the post office on Saturday (yesterday). When the nice postal man said, “this package will be $19.80″ I think my jaw must have hit the floor. I only charged the person $9.00 for shipping…what did I do wrong?

The nice postal man, then proceeded to say, “you know, I see you in here on weekends and you always look shocked. Are you selling on ebay?” I replied with, “yes, and apparently I don’t know how to calculate shipping very well.” “Do you have a postal scale?” he asked. “No, I just kind of eyeball it.” As I learned over the next 30 minutes while he gave me a tutorial on how to use the united states postal service – eyeballing it was no longer an option.

There are “zones”. Every region has a zone. Boston is zone 1. Where I was sending to, Washington state, is zone 8. That would be the most expensive. He then informed me that the USPS has these Priority Flat Rate boxes. They come in a few sizes and the largest one is $13 and some change to ship anywhere and it can be any weight! He gave me a few flat rate boxes, a bunch of papers that talk about insurance, the zones, etc…and sent me on my way.

Keep in mind. I have been selling stuff on ebay for 4 years, maybe, and have never know any of this..my buyers sure have made a mint on me! I get home and tell Austin about my exciting day at the post office, to which he replies, why don’t you just use the shipping calculator on ebay?

Enough said.
