Will He Hold Your Purse??

Filed under: Uncategorized — mldollaz @ 11:03 am

There was a great article in yesterday’s Sunday Boston Globe Magazine, titled Will He Hold Your Purse. The article by, Robin Schoenthaler was just awesome. It really made me stop and think about my relationship with my husband, Austin. Even though we go through are ups and downs and I might think he is the laziest person alive – he always holds my purse when I ask him to. He really loves me!

This should be the new way that you determine if this is the man for you. After a couple months of dating, ask him to hold your precious Marc Jacobs satchel. Will he do it??

When I was reading the article, it made me smile because as Schoenthaler described the devoted husbands in the waiting room of the chemotherapy center it reminded me of all the times Austin sat and waited for me. For my first colonoscopy at 23 and just last May when I had my lap-band. He is always there with my purse.

I think we might be onto something here. From now on when a friend tells me she has met the man of her dreams..I’m going to ask “Do you think he will hold your purse if you ask him to?”

I thought this was a great article -  be sure to tell your spouse or significant other the next time he holds your purse how much you love him. If your with someone who won’t hold your purse…it’s time to move on!

The Amazing Race started again!

Filed under: Uncategorized — mldollaz @ 4:02 pm

Oh, how I love this show. The Amazing Race is one of the best shows on television..just ask the Emmy’s. It just gets better and better. Phil, the host, seems to be even better this season. So, in a rundown of the contestants [spoiler alert], I’ll go over who I like and dislike.

Meghan and Cheyne – Not bad..they seem very fit and fun. But, not my favorites.

Maria and Tiffany – LIARS! These two are professional poker players who are telling everyone that they work for a non-profit. They get outted in the second half of the season premiere because someone recognizes them in the airport. They are super shady.

Marcy and Ron – um..not sure what to say about these two. A little spacey.I don’t give them long.

Lance and Keri – From Boston so I should have an affinity toward them..do I? NO. This guy is a big meat head (although he is a lawyer) who is mean to his girlfriend.

Flight Time and Big Easy – from the Harlem Globetrotters. LOVE these guys. They keep everything light and fun.

Gary and Matt – Interesting father/son team. They kind of remind me of the stunt little guys from last season.

Garrett and Jessica – already got booted in the second half of the season premiere

Brian and Ericka – She is a former miss USA. They are the only interracial couple not that that matters to me – but they seemed to be hyping it up a lot when giving interviews. I don’t think they will last long.

Eric and Lisa – Didn’t even make it passed the backpacks! In this season premiere the teams had to perform a challenge before they got to go on the first leg. They had to find the license plate associated with where they were going in Japan in this sea of plates. However, the hint was right at the top of the clue card and these two missed the boat. So they didn’t even get to race. How sad.

Sam and Dan – Gay brothers – pretty funny. Seem like they might be a team to beat.

Zev and Justin – friends. Zev has asperger’s but they are doing awesome. They have such a positive outlook on things.

Mike and Canaan – christian virgins. Although, they way they scream at each other isn’t very christian. I don’t give them long either.

There it is! I love the Amazing Race. I can’t wait for this season!

R.I.P Patrick Swayze

Filed under: Uncategorized — mldollaz @ 2:58 pm

The latest celebrity to lose his life is Patrick Swayze, 57. What a sad, sad day. I could quote all the Dirty Dancing lines you want..but “Nobody Puts Baby in the Corner..” – but let’s not forget about Point Break, Roadhouse, and GHOST – OMG! I never cried so hard in a movie (well maybe in the Notebook..). He was so great. He kept to himself, did his work and led his life. That’s it.

I some how feel connected to him because my last name is Sweazy. Anytime I introduce myself, people say “Sweazy, like Patrick?” I wonder if they will say that to me. I hope so.

I just don’t understand what is going on in Hollywood. The year just started off bad with the death of Jett Travolta. Things were relatively quiet until we lost Bea Arthur in April. In May, Dom Deluise passed and soon after him was Exodus Tyson, 4 year old daughter of Mike Tyson. Then you can basically say that the shit hit the fan in June. Ed McMahon, Farah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, and Billy Mays. July took the life of a news great – Walter Cronkite. August was a big month for Bostonians with the death of Eunice Kennedy Shriver followed quickly by Senator Ted Kennedy. August also included DJ AM. Now we start September with Patrick Swayze.

The thing is most of these deaths were health related. Cancer, Kidney Failure, other health issues, etc. It’s hard to notice any sort of correlation between these tragic and horrible deaths. If they were all drug related it might be easier – but they aren’t. I always wanted to be famous but at this point – I’m glad I’m not. It seems there is some sort of Karma floating around. But even that is hard to believe. McMahon, Fawcett, Swayze, Kennedy – all were good if not GREAT people. Something to ponder for sure.

Everynight of the week it’s something else! But I’m super excited because on Friday Austin and I are going to see the taping of “Wheel of Fortune” here in Boston. Obviously it would be better to be a contestant on Wheel but seeing Vanna White and Pat Sajak in person will be just as cool!

The inches update for the last two weeks! and our vaca to IL

Filed under: Uncategorized — mldollaz @ 11:50 am

So Austin and I finally had a week of from Photo Fun Box so we decided to take a trip back to my homeland of Collinsville, IL. We had this great idea to drive and then about a week before our trip we thought it would be better to fly — which is was! We went with my parents to Six Flags St. Louis, which was awesome! We did the roller coasters, water rides and the water park! We went to the Zoo and we went to the Casino Queen. If Austin wasn’t a good gambler we would be in trouble because I am a horrible gambler! I did pretty good with my eating while on vacation. I just ate slow and stuck to the plan. I did have french fries for the first time in a solid 3 months! But only a few! I ate a lot of chicken and salads – a few times I had pork – overall it was good. The best part was when I came back and took my measurements.

We left last Tuesday (7/14) I took them that morning:

Bust     38 (down 1 inch from last week and 6 inches total)

Waist 38 (down 1 inch from last week and 8 inches total)

Hips 46 (down .5 inch from last week and 7 inches total)

Thigh 26 (down .5 inch from last week and 4.5 inches total)

Arm 13 (down .5 inch from last week and 2 inches total)

So, when I got back on Tuesday it was super late so I took my measurements on Wednesday morning

Bust 38 (no change from last week -  6 inches total)

Waist 38 (no change from last week – 8 inches total)

Hips 44 (down 2 inches from last week – 9 inches total)

Thigh 25.5 (down .5 from last week – 5 inches total)

Arm 13 (no change from last week – 2 inches total)

This brings my total inches lost to: 30!!!! I don’t go back until August 4th for my next weigh in and hopefully first fill!

Jon and Kate

Filed under: Uncategorized — mldollaz @ 9:12 am

Sad night in television. Jon and Kate Gosselin filed for divorce to end their 10 year marriage. I cried. The episode was very sad. There were a few comments that didn’t sit well with me however. The first of which being when Kate said, “the show must go on..” why? Are they going to chronicle their divorce proceedings. The second of which being when Kate said, “Jon won’t talk to me. I would love to discuss it with him but he won’t.” and later when Jon said, “I’m not a very good communicator.” Obviously. Have they tried marriage counseling? Although it seems Jon checked out long ago, it would have been nice if they tried marriage counseling.

The kids are who I feel the worst for. They are going to be so confused that they live at a house, but their mom lives there a few days and there dad lives there a few days. And then I loved how Jon, in response to his continuing to be on the show, was like, “who knows, I might get a job..” um..I don’t think anyone is going to hire you with paparrazzi permanently stuck to your ass. It’s sad it really is.

I think if someone offered me a television show – I would say no. It never ends well. Look at another of my favorite couples, Jessica and Nick Lache. They spent their first year of marriage being tailed by a video crew and look where it got them d-i-v-o-r-c-e. Sad because they were so cute. Who else? Carmen Electra and Dave had a show. I forget what it was called. Then there is always the Anna Nicole Smith Show – god I loved that woman and now she is no longer with us.

On the flip side, there is always those that make it on reality tv. Gene Simmons is still doing okay, the Osborne’s are there (don’t know if they are okay), Tori and Dean are still together..let’s see how things pan out for Kendra Wilkinson.

Whale Wars

Filed under: Uncategorized — mldollaz @ 12:45 pm

Austin and I watch a show called “Whale Wars” on Animal Planet. It is a show that profiles the boat “Sea Shepherd” whose mission is to stop the killing of whales by the Japanese. The crew is led by Paul Watson, the self-described co-founder of Greenpeace.

Here is a blur from Wikipedia: “The first Sea Shepherd vessel, the Sea Shepherd, was purchased in December 1978 with assistance from Fund for Animals. Sea Shepherd soon established itself as one of the more controversial environmental groups, known for provocative direct action tactics. These tactics have included throwing objects onto the decks of whaling ships, the use of “prop foulers” in an attempt to sabotage the ships, boarding whaling vessels,[13] and the scuttling of two ships in an Icelandic harbor.[14] Watson remains the leader of Sea Shepherd today and uses the title “Captain” in reference to his role in the organization, although has never been licensed as a ship’s captain.[1] The organization and its activities to halt whaling are the focus of a reality TV series, Whale Wars, airing on Animal Planet.”

This show is very exciting. It is sad what happens to these whales. But, one thing I just have to say is that first mate, Peter Brown, is a complete idiot. He has almost sabotoged the trip countless times because “he doesn’t rely on technology.” He lets his “experience” guide him. In a recent episode, the Sea Shepherd, which does not have an ice-rated hull, was stuck in an ice field. The communications team went through all this trouble to read the ice maps and find a path out of the ice. They gave Peter Brown the coordinates because it was his watch..the next morning they realized the mark was missed, why?? because Peter freaking brown didn’t bother to follow them! It just aggravates me because they have all these volunteers on board and he doesn’t take into account the safety of anyone.

Peter should be the new first mate!

An awesome weekend!

Filed under: Uncategorized — mldollaz @ 11:21 am

So, the end of last week was not looking to promising..but then on Friday I spoke with Dr. Robinson and he said it would be okay to start the mushy food diet. On Friday night, while we were working a photo booth gig – I had my first food in a week and a half. Chicken Soup! It was wonderful!! Then on Saturday, I really started. I’m allowed to have things like Applesauce, mashed carrots, mashed potatoes, sugar free pudding, mashed bananas, 2oz of chicken, tuna or turkey, cheese – that’s about it..but man is it good!

So, I made it through the weekend– until Sunday. We went to a wedding and during the ceremony I was in such agonizing gas pain Austin recommended I take the pain medication. Well, I thought he meant the oxycodone and he meant the tylenol..so as we are driving to the reception I’m like about to pass out. I was super dizzy. So dizzy that when I got out of the car I nearly fell down. We get into the reception and I’m now feeling nauseas (sp?). I tell austin that I think he needs to give me the nausea medicine (see a few posts earlier about that..but it’s not pleasant and it’s not given orally :-) ) So, obviously we are in a public place and he can’t go in the ladies room. We put our heads together and came up with the u-haul trailer!! We had rented a trailer because our friends (whose wedding were were at) had also wanted the photo booth. So we climbed in the trailer – I got the medicine and all was wonderful!!! hahahaha!!

Yesterday, we spent the day at the pool in the sun so that was nice. My incisions are healing up quite nicely and I’m really feeling great! Although, I am a little bummed that everyone isn’t like “have you lost weight?” Everyone at my work keeps telling me I am – but we went to two bbq’s over the weekend and people told Austin that he looked like he had lost weight! Oh well! I have a year to go – and it’s only been two weeks. I have plenty of time!
